St John’s, NL – Commercial fishing and workboat professionals from across the Maritimes have made the trip to St John’s, Newfoundland for the 8th edition of the North Atlantic Fish & Workboat Show. This week, November 17 & 18, the Mary Brown’s Centre will be transformed into one of the region’s top destinations for those who make a living in the marine industry.
“The move-in process has been running smoothly and we’re excited to unveil this show to visitors.” said Show Manager, Shawn Murphy. “Its going to be a full two days of networking, celebrations and discussions about the newest technology in the fishing industry.”
This is the last chance to register online as pre-registration closes on November 16th. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the FREE registration promotion currently taking place to save money and fast track their entrance into the show. Also taking place at the event is a very special awards ceremony within the marine industry. Every two years, three deserving individuals who have made valuable contributions to the marine industry in Newfoundland and Labrador, are inducted into the Atlantic Canada Marine Industries Hall of Fame in either the Mariner, Processor or Builder category. This year’s inductees are:
• Tom Best – Mariner Category: The late Tom Best was a fiercely proud inshore fish harvester from Petty Harbour who dedicated his life’s work to advocating for sustainable fisheries and coastal Newfoundland and Labrador communities. Click here to read his full bio.
• Martin Sullivan – Processor Category: Martin is the Chief Executive Officer of Ocean Choice International, a company that sustainably harvests, produces, and markets a full range of seafood with sales offices around the world. Click here to read his full bio.
• Derrick Jackson – Builder Category: After his father’s retirement, Derrick took over at Jackson’s Shipyard with determination and pride, building boats of many different sizes and designs. His facility specializes in fibreglass pond boats, speed boats and vessels ranging from 28 to 65 feet. Click here to read his full bio.
