Fish Canada Workboat Canada, the nation’s largest commercial marine event, is taking over the Moncton Coliseum complex this Friday and Saturday, January 24 and 25. Presented in partnership with the Navigator Magazine, the show highlights the importance of fishing and related sectors throughout Atlantic Canada and brings together thousands of visitors every two years.
“We’re bracing for a potentially record-breaking edition,” says Shawn Murphy, Show Manager. “It’s a completely sold-out floorplan, and our pre-registration numbers are soaring higher than we’ve seen in the history of the event. The buzz around Fish Canada Workboat Canada this year is unprecedented and we’re looking forward to seeing everything come together in just a few days.”
The crowd at Fish Canada Workboat Canada includes those who make their living on, in, and around the water, along with those who provide the related products and services to keep Atlantic Canada’s marine-based industries running. The two days provide a key opportunity for members of the commercial marine sector to connect with thousands of qualified buyers.
In addition to the latest products and services on today’s commercial marine market, show visitors will find 5 full-size fishing boats displayed on the show floor, presented by Pro Cat, Millennium Marine, DJ Marine and Samson Enterprises. They can also connect with a wide range of exhibitors, take advantage of exclusive show specials, and enter to win thousands of dollars in door prizes. An educational seminar program is also scheduled – experts will be on hand to present on topics including oil spill assistance for commercial fishers, and climate change and marine biodiversity. The Atlantic Canada Marine Industries Hall of Fame will be presenting awards at the show at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 24, at the Navigator’s booth (#232 in Hall A). Three categories are recognized: Mariner, recognizing individuals who work or have worked on the water in any marine industry; Processor, recognizing individuals involved in the business of processing, from line workers to company owners; and Builder, recognizing those who have made contributions without having directly participated.
Congratulations to this year’s inductees:
- MARINER: Dennis Gaudet (Tignish, P.E.I.)
- PROCESSOR: Rodolphe (Rudy) LeBreton (Neguac, N.B.)
- BUILDER: Laurence Cook (Grand Manan, N.B.)
Full bios and stories of the inductees, alongside previous Hall of Fame winners, will be on display at the event.
