Moncton, NB – This past Friday and Saturday in Moncton, big crowds came out for Canada’s largest commercial marine event – Fish Canada Workboat Canada. A record total of 7,237 attendees made it out over the show’s two days, with a mix of professionals from fisheries, aquaculture, workboat operations, processors, and those who make a living in, on, and around the water.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome of this year’s event,” says Shawn Murphy, Show Manager. “With the highest attendance in show history, we also saw many new exhibitors from all over the world, who indicated that they enjoyed a great networking reception on Friday evening. Overall, Fish Canada Workboat Canada 2020 was a hit among all stakeholders and will be remembered for years to come.”
Exhibitors were thrilled with the results of the show, expressing positive remarks on the crowd level and high morale from everyone in attendance. The busy show floor lead to many deals and sales being made at the event. Five full-size vessels were on display, demonstrating the latest in boatbuilding technology.
On Friday, at the show the Atlantic Canada Marine Industries Hall of Fame honoured three new inductees. Congratulations to Laurence Cook of Grand Manan, NB; Rudy LeBreton of Neguac, NB; and Dennis Gaudet of Tignish, PEI. Laurence was honoured posthumously and the award was accepted by his daughters. The video of the ceremony is available online here.
One highlight of the event was the well-attended networking reception held on Friday evening at the Delta Beausejour. Dozens of generous sponsors came together to provide a buffet of locally sourced seafood products, enjoyed by nearly 300 attendees. Seafood for the reception was donated by: Prince Edward Aqua Farms; Oyster Kings; Captain Dan’s Seafood; Inshore Fisheries; Simply Fresh Seafoods; Newell Lobsters; and Wedgeport Lobsters.
Thanks to show sponsors TriNav Group of Companies and Navigator Magazine, along with Genrep, TwinDisc, Marindustrial, and Entreprises Shippagan Ltée, and various door prize sponsors. Winners of the door prizes will be listed on the show’s website.
Fish Canada Workboat Canada will return in January 2022. Stay tuned to www.FCWC.ca, which will be updated as details become available.
